Chevron Eliminates Connector Failures on Offshore Tanker with ATEX Certified 8819 Series

Houston, TX – July 2025 – Chevron Shipping has successfully upgraded its FLORIDA VOYAGER crude oil vessel with the JOWO 8819 Series, a high-performance ATEX certified marine connector distributed by Texas Electrical Connectors.

After two years in service, the upgrade has resulted in zero connector-related failures — a major improvement over previous drydock cycles.

The 8819 Series is a push-pull connector rated for 300m open-face submersion and certified for explosive marine environments (ATEX/IECEx). Engineered for long life in salt spray and vibration-prone offshore conditions, the connector does not require epoxy potting and supports 750V/43A electrical loads.

"In the past, we’d replace corroded connectors every drydock. With the 8819, our downtime has been virtually eliminated," said a Chevron maintenance superintendent.

Texas Electrical Connectors is offering a $1000 shipping credit for U.S. customers along with a free copy of its Marine Connector Whitepaper.
